Job summary

Good.Lab, a sustainability-focused SaaS & Consulting startup, seeks a hands-on Part-Time Controller (~8-12 hours/week) to own the full accounting cycle. Remote-based collaboration with leadership and external partners is essential, including monthly close, FP&A, and process automation.

The ideal candidate brings 5–10+ years of accounting/finance experience, CPA or equivalent training, and strong GAAP knowledge. This role offers flexible hours and a compensation model aligned with experience.

Qualifications

• 5–10+ years of accounting/finance experience, ideally in startups or small companies.
• CPA license or formal training and experience within an accounting firm.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and monthly close processes.
• Proficiency with QuickBooks Online and Excel (advanced formulas required).
• Experience with Gusto, Bill.com, Divvy, Carta (or similar).
• Experience managing full-cycle accounting independently.

Responsibilities

• Own monthly close process, including journal entries and reconciliations.
• Maintain accurate books in QuickBooks Online.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts and ensure financial accuracy.
• Manage accounts receivable (invoicing, collections, overdue follow-ups).
• Manage accounts payable and vendor onboarding.
• Oversee company credit cards and expense tracking.
• Ensure compliance with revenue recognition policies.
• Maintain and improve financial models in Excel.
• Prepare and manage key financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow).
• Lead cash forecasting (short- and long-term).
• Track performance vs. plan and analyze variances.
• Prepare financial reporting for leadership and board discussions.
• Identify financial trends, risks, and opportunities.
• Continuously identify opportunities to automate recurring accounting and finance workflows and reduce manual effort.
• Design and improve scalable processes, controls, documentation, and reporting workflows.
• Use AI-enabled tools thoughtfully and securely where they can improve efficiency, analysis, documentation, or data quality.
