Job summary

Business Sherpa Group, a remote-friendly accounting practice, seeks a seasoned Controller to deliver accurate, timely financial services to a varied client portfolio. You’ll lead a small accounting team, collaborate with clients and CFOs, and ensure compliant, high‑quality reporting.

Qualifications

• CPA or CPA candidate
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Controller-level experience with a portfolio of clients
• Experience supervising or leading a team
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and IFRS; experience with cloud-based accounting packages

Responsibilities

• Serve as trusted financial advisor to a portfolio of clients and deliver value-added financial leadership.
• Review financial statements, reporting packages, and key analyses for accuracy and compliance.
• Oversee month-end and year-end close, cash flow management, and client reporting.
• Participate in budgeting and forecasting exercises.
• Act as the lead on client engagements, coordinating work of accountants and specialists.
• Mentor and support less experienced team members through coaching and review.
• Resolve complex accounting, reporting, and operational challenges for clients.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls.
• Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and grow the practice.
• Manage multiple client relationships and priorities with professionalism.
