Job summary

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• Three years of experience in a medical office setting.
• Equivalent combinations of education and experience may substitute for stated requirements.

Responsibilities

• Train, orient, and support new Financial Access Specialists; assist in candidate interviews.
• Review and ensure accuracy of staff work while ensuring compliance with procedures and payer requirements.
• Coordinate and obtain insurance authorizations; verify eligibility and benefits in Epic.
• Document case progress and authorization status in Epic; provide updates to internal teams.
• Assist uninsured patients with Medicaid/Charity screenings and explain financial assistance options.
• Provide cost estimates and discuss payment options with patients.
• Collect and process patient payments using Epic’s cash drawer.
• Contact patients regarding benefits coverage and potential out-of-pocket costs.
• Complete and follow up on Notice of Non-Coverage forms and missing referrals/authorizations.
• Participate in special projects and recommend policy or workflow improvements.
