Job summary

BenchPrep is hiring a Staff/Senior Accountant for a remote position reporting to the Controller. You’ll maintain financial records, prepare reports, analyze data, and support budgeting, forecasting, audits, and process improvements.

The role focuses on reconciliations, journal entries, AR/AP, billing, and ensuring GAAP compliance, with opportunities for year-end tax work and cross-departmental collaboration.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years (Staff Accountant) or 5-8 years (Sr Accountant) in accounting or auditing.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting; CPA preferred.
• Thorough knowledge of financial statement prep, GAAP, and revenue recognition.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work well independently and in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage accounting function including reconciliations, journal entries, AR, AP, and Billing.
• Analyze expenditures and allocate expenses to departments; report to departments as needed.
• Ensure GAAP compliance and proper revenue recognition.
• Post monthly, quarterly, and yearly accruals to GL.
• Assist in building financial statements and budget variance analysis.
• Prepare year-end schedules for tax returns.
