Job summary

Oxford Instruments seeks a field service engineer to install, commission, and maintain advanced microscopy systems across North and South America. The role requires a hands-on problem solver with strong technical acumen, clear communication, and extensive travel to customer sites, with remote support as needed.

You will train users, diagnose complex hardware and software issues, calibrate components, and implement upgrades to maximize uptime and data quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field.
• 5–8 years of field service experience in microscopy or analytical instrumentation.
• Proficient with diagnostic instruments (DMMs, oscilloscopes) and Windows OS.
• Ability to interpret mechanical/electrical/system schematics and travel extensively.

Responsibilities

• Lead installation and commissioning of systems with training.
• Perform preventive & corrective maintenance; diagnose root causes and verify repairs.
• Build trust through responsive communication and hands-on training.
• Resolve hardware/software issues; provide remote support to minimize downtime.
• Calibrate components and implement upgrades for reliability and throughput.
