Job summary

UL Solutions is seeking a Field Engineer for a home-based position with Chicago/Northbrook, IL relevance and extensive travel. You will manage engineering projects, develop UL requirements, test methods, and equipment for complex products, with minimal supervision.

Qualifications include an engineering degree, expert NEC/building code knowledge, and significant experience with electrical test equipment and field evaluations. Frequent international travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Engineering/technology degree from an accredited university.
• Expert knowledge of NEC, Building Codes, conformity standards.
• Experience applying project-handling concepts to complex products.
• Experience with Electrical Test Equipment and conducting electrical tests.
• Willingness to travel frequently, including international travel.
• ABET-accredited degree in engineering or related field.

Responsibilities

• Define project scope, plan investigations, and determine specifications.
• Travel to conduct on-site product evaluations and communicate with clients.
• Provide technical assistance and review plans with clients.
• Represent UL at meetings and present technical topics.
• Lead code and regulatory projects of major magnitude.
• Act as Project Handler of record and Reviewer of record as assigned.
• Develop test requirements and methods for new product features.
• Incorporate continuous improvement concepts into all duties.
