Job summary

CorVel Corporation is seeking a caring, self-motivated registered nurse for a Field (Medical) Case Manager role in the Tampa, FL area. This position includes work-from-home options with substantial on-the-road responsibilities, typically Monday–Friday during regular business hours.

You will collaborate with injured workers, families, physicians, and employers to facilitate recovery, managing a caseload within a defined jurisdiction and ensuring appropriate care, documentation, and coordination.

Qualifications

• Experience as an RN Medical Case Manager is ideal, or a clinical background in orthopedics, neurology, or rehabilitation is preferred.
• Graduate of accredited school of nursing.
• Current RN Licensure in state of operation.
• Certification as a CCM, CIRS, or other Case Management certifications preferred.
• A valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and ability to travel to assigned locations is required.

Responsibilities

• Provides in-person and telephonic Medical Case Management to individuals, involving the patient, physician, other health care providers, the employer, and the referral source.
• Discusses current treatment plans with the physician and alternate options.
• Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates patient progress.
• Evaluates treatment plan for appropriateness, medical necessity, and cost effectiveness.
• Attends doctors, providers, home visits, and, at times, attorney visits.
• Participates in discharge planning conferences to determine appropriateness of care.
• Conducts home visits for initial evaluation.
• Arranges delivery of durable medical equipment and nursing services.
• Local travel up to ~60% of work time; potential overnight travel.
