Job summary

Merck & Co., Inc. is seeking a Field Access Manager to serve as the subject-matter expert on access issues for HCPs and HCOs.

The role is remote/field-based, supporting defined accounts within an assigned geography and coordinating with hub and field teams to ensure timely patient access to therapy. The FAM analyzes access trends, educates providers, and collaborates across Market Access, Public Affairs, and Trade to navigate payer coverage and benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• 7+ years in patient support, pharmaceutical/healthcare sales or operations, or reimbursement support.
• Strong knowledge of health insurance structures (Medicare Part B, Medicaid, commercial) and related access processes.

Responsibilities

• Provide information and education to HCP accounts on patient access, including benefit verification, prior authorization, appeals, and patient support programs in live and virtual formats.
• Analyze access trends and identify barriers to patient access.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to address barriers and support patient satisfaction.
• Build trusted relationships with internal stakeholders to support seamless patient access to therapy and monitor payer trends.
• Provide access information to HCP offices and educate field teams on approved direction.
• Escalate and coordinate on access issues with third parties including hub vendors.
• Provide education and support on Specialty Pharmacy issues.
• Explain how products are covered under the benefit design (Commercial, Medicare, Medicaid).
• Educate HCP offices on the product hub program and patient support offerings.
• Attend national and regional meetings.
