Job summary

SOLV Energy, a national provider of infrastructure services to the power industry, is seeking a Fiber Optic Splicer 2. This fully remote role requires splice and test of fiber optic cables in both indoor and outdoor settings and involves maintaining splicing schematics, field notes, and project records.

You will train junior technicians, manage tools and inventory, and stay current with new fiber optic technologies while adhering to safety PPE and company policies.

Qualifications

• Fusion splicing experience with fiber optic cables.
• Ability to splice outside plant direct buried fiber.
• Ability to splice armored and non-armored loose tube fiber.
• Capable of splicing up to 96 strands.
• Experience using OTDRs; Fluke Versiv and EXFO are a plus.
• 2+ years of fusion splicing experience.
• Experience with AFL and Corning splicing materials and enclosures.
• Willingness to travel full-time.

Responsibilities

• Perform splicing and testing of fiber optic cables in indoor and outdoor settings.
• Diagnose and resolve fiber optic issues.
• Analyze test results and rectify discrepancies.
• Maintain records of splicing operations and network configurations.
• Train and support entry-level technicians.
• Maintain and repair fiber optic networks.
• Manage splicing tools and inventory.
• Stay updated with fiber optic technologies.
• Adhere to PPE and safety policies.
