Job summary

SOLV Energy is seeking a Fiber Optic Splicer 2 to splice and test fiber cables underground in both outside and inside plant settings. The role is fully remote; travel is required. You will read and maintain splicing schematics, manage field notes and maintain OSP/ISP activity within assigned areas.

Responsibilities include splicing/testing, diagnosing issues, analyzing results, and maintaining records. Candidates with OTDR experience and a Splicing Certificate or ability to obtain one will excel.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of Fiber Optic Fusion Splicing experience.
• Ability to splice outside plant direct buried fiber.
• Experience with armored and non-armored loose tube fiber.
• Capability to splice multi-counts up to 96 strands.
• Splice and terminate connectors on indoor/outdoor tight buffered fiber.
• Experience using OTDR testing equipment (Fluke Versiv/EXFO a plus).
• Willingness to travel full-time.

Responsibilities

• Perform splicing and testing of fiber optic cables in both indoor and outdoor settings, ensuring precision and adherence to technical specifications.
• Diagnose and resolve fiber optic issues to maintain network integrity.
• Analyze test results to identify and rectify discrepancies.
• Maintain accurate records of splicing operations, test results, and network configurations.
• Train and support entry-level technicians to meet quality standards.
• Perform maintenance and repairs on fiber optic networks and manage inventory of tools.
