Job summary

SOLV Energy is hiring a Fiber Optic Splicer 2 to splice/test fiber optic cables underground in outdoor and indoor settings. The role supports project timelines and creates as-built documentation. This position is fully remote with interview details to discuss location expectations.

Qualifications

• Experience fusion splicing and mechanical connector terminating.
• Able to splice outside plant direct buried fiber.
• Able to splice armored and non-armored loose tube fiber.
• Able to splice and terminate mechanical connectors on indoor/outdoor tight buffered fiber.
• Experience in using OTDRs for testing; Fluke Versiv and EXFO a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform splicing and testing of fiber optic cables in indoor and outdoor settings.
• Diagnose and resolve fiber optic issues to maintain network integrity.
• Analyze test results to identify discrepancies and correct them.
• Maintain accurate records of splicing operations and test results.
• Collaborate with the fiber splicing team to train entry-level technicians.
• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on fiber optic networks.
• Manage splicing tools and inventory; ensure tools are in good condition.
• Stay current with fiber optic tech advancements; pursue certification as needed.
• Adhere to safety protocols and PPE requirements.
