Job summary

SOLV Energy is seeking a Fiber Optic Splicer 2 to splice and test fiber optic cables in both indoor and outdoor settings. This fully remote role involves reading and maintaining splicing schematics, and producing accurate field notes for as‑built plans.

The position requires 2+ years in fiber optic fusion splicing, OTDR testing, and direct buried/splicing of armored and loose tube fiber, with travel to project sites; training and safety compliance are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in fusion splicing and mechanical connector termination.
• Able to splice outside plant direct buried fiber.
• Able to splice armored and non-armored loose tube fiber.
• Able to splice multiple counts up to 96 strands.
• Able to splice and terminate mechanical connectors on indoor/outdoor tight buffered fiber.
• Experience using OTDRs for testing; Fluke Versiv and EXFO are a plus.
• 2+ years of fiber optic fusion splicing experience.
• Experience using preformed line products and splicing enclosures and trays.
• This position requires full-time travel.

Responsibilities

• Perform splicing and testing of fiber optic cables in indoor and outdoor settings.
• Diagnose and resolve fiber optic issues to maintain network integrity.
• Analyze test results to identify and rectify discrepancies.
• Maintain accurate splicing operation records and test results.
• Collaborate with team members to train and support entry-level technicians.
• Perform regular maintenance and repairs on fiber optic networks.
• Manage splicing tools and equipment inventory.
• Stay current with advancements in fiber optic technology and techniques.
• Possess a Splicing Certificate or ability to obtain certification.
