Job summary

SOLV Energy is seeking a Fiber Optic Splicer 2 to splice and test fiber optic cables underground in both indoor and outdoor settings. The role includes reading and maintaining splicing schematics and records, and supporting field activities across assigned work areas.

This position is fully remote; location details will be discussed during the interview. Candidates should have 2+ years in fusion splicing, OTDR testing experience, and the ability to travel full-time.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of Fiber Optic Fusion Splicing experience.
• Experience splicing outside plant direct buried fiber.
• Experience splicing armored and non-armored loose tube fiber.
• Ability to splice multi-count up to 96 strands.
• Ability to splice and terminate mechanical connectors on indoor/outdoor fiber.
• Experience using OTDRs for testing; Fluke Versiv and EXFO a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform splicing and testing of fiber optic cables in indoor and outdoor settings.
• Diagnose and resolve fiber optic issues to maintain network integrity.
• Analyze test results to identify and rectify discrepancies.
• Maintain accurate records of splicing operations and configurations.
• Train and support entry-level technicians to ensure quality standards.
• Perform maintenance and repairs on fiber optic networks.
• Manage splicing tools and equipment inventory.
• Stay current with fiber optic advancements and obtain certification as needed.
