Job summary

SMX is seeking a federal financial business analyst for a 100% remote, full-time role focused on the CFO Control Tower BAS solution built for the federal government on SAP Analytics Cloud. You will analyze financial processes, document requirements, and drive value with a multidisciplinary team while maintaining minimal travel (<20%) and pursuing Public Trust clearance.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in business, Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Public Administration, or a related field.
5+ years of experience in federal financial management, business process analysis or management, data analytics and reporting, or related consulting/operations roles.
Experience with federal government financial data and processes.
Experience with data analysis, reconciliation, and exception resolution.
Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
Ability to explain complex concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a client-facing consulting environment.
Proficiency with MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Public Trust clearance or ability to obtain one.

Responsibilities

Develop a deep understanding of client objectives, financial operations, and strategic priorities.
Analyze and document business processes, workflows, requirements, and decision-making needs.
Facilitate workshops and collaborative sessions to identify improvement opportunities.
Recommend process, technology, and data solutions to improve efficiency and financial outcomes.
Review policies, data structures, and procedures for impacts on business and financial processes.
Use BI tools to maximize data value and insights.
Guide clients in adopting solutions to improve operations and reporting.
Collaborate across teams to align business, data, and technology requirements.
Create quality SDLC documentation (RTM, FDD, design docs, user guides, training materials).
Develop test plans, use cases, and manage test execution.
