Job summary

WINTrio LLC is seeking a Data Operations Specialist (DBA) to manage AWS-based data environments for a federal program. The role focuses on operation, reliability, and security across pipelines, databases, and the agency's public data portal.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience administering AWS managed databases, incident response skills, and a proactive operational mindset for monitoring and SLA reporting. Remote eligibility and Washington DC metro preference are noted.

Qualifications

• 3 to 7+ years of experience administering AWS Redshift, RDS Postgres/SQL Server, or comparable managed data stores.
• Experience designing relational schemas, star/snowflake models, indexes, and partition strategies.
• Experience with routine DBA tasks: backup/restore, tuning, patching, and performance optimization.
• Experience supporting data warehouses in production and resolving performance issues.
• Experience applying federal data management expectations, including auditability and quality controls.
• Experience working in a federal or regulated environment with stakeholders and structured deliverables.
• Experience delivering work under SLAs with formal quality controls.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain established AWS-based workflows (Lambda, Glue, Step Functions, Redshift, RDS, S3).
• Perform ongoing database administration: tuning, patching, backup/restore, maintenance.
• Manage the agency's open data portal and CKAN catalog, ensuring dataset publication and new visualizations.
• Monitor platform health, logging, alerts, and triage/response to incidents.
• Maintain SOPs/runbooks and update operational docs quarterly.
• Provide end-user support and training for database access and data usage tools.
• Monitor data quality, observability, logging, and alerting across the environment.
• Deliver monthly SLA performance reports covering pipeline success, incidents, and data availability.
• Meet performance standards: 95%+ pipeline success, 4-hour incident acknowledgment, documented backups.
