Job summary

REDAN, LLC is seeking an experienced Data Operations Specialist (DBA) to operate and sustain the cloud data environment across AWS pipelines, databases, and the open-data portal. You will ensure stability, reliability, and security while meeting SLAs in a regulated federal-like setting.

You will publish datasets, monitor health, respond to incidents, maintain SOPs, and collaborate with engineering, governance, and end-user stakeholders to keep data assets auditable and reliable.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of database administration and data-operations experience, including production support.
• Hands-on experience administering Amazon Redshift, RDS PostgreSQL or SQL Server, with backup/restore, tuning, patching, and performance optimization.
• Experience operating AWS data services (Glue, Lambda, Step Functions, S3) in a production environment.
• Experience designing relational schemas, star/snowflake models, indexes, and partition strategies.
• Proficiency in SQL; working proficiency in Python for operational scripting and automation.
• Experience monitoring platform health, logging, and alerting with SLA-driven incident triage.
• Experience producing SOPs, runbooks, and governance artifacts for regulated stakeholders.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and ceremonies.
• Excellent written and oral communication; strong troubleshooting and detail orientation.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain AWS-based data workflows (Lambda, Glue, Step Functions, Redshift, RDS PostgreSQL, S3).
• Conduct ongoing database administration including backup/restore, tuning, patching, and maintenance across relational/warehouse stores.
• Manage the Huwise open-data portal and CKAN catalog; ensure accurate dataset publication and support new visualizations.
• Monitor platform health, logging, and alerts; perform incident triage by severity level.
• Monitor data quality and observability of pipelines, data freshness, completeness, and volume anomalies.
• Maintain and update SOPs, runbooks, and operational docs quarterly and after data-product releases.
• Deliver monthly SLA performance reporting and database health/maintenance reports.
• Provide end-user support for database access, credentials, and data-usage tools.
• Ensure backups meet RTO/RPO objectives and support ATO/FISMA compliance in coordination with IT/security.
