Job summary

Lutheran Social Services of South Dakota is hiring a Family Development Specialist to help foster and adoptive families navigate the licensing process, complete home study assessments, and partner with agencies to support families throughout the journey.

This part-time, remote/community-based role serves candidates within 20 miles of multiple SD communities and requires a social work license or eligibility, a bachelor’s degree, driving eligibility, background checks, and offers a $300 sign-on

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field, plus one to two years related experience is required.
Licensed Social Worker or Licensed Social Work Associate through the South Dakota Board of Social Work Examiners is preferred.
Must be at least 21 years of age, is required.
Must successfully complete all agency background checks, is required.
Requires active auto-insurance, a valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain one with approved driver status.

Responsibilities

Assist families in navigating the process to become a foster or adoptive resource.
Complete home study assessments for prospective foster and kinship families who are pursuing Foster Care and Kinship licensing and adoption approval.
Partner with families to complete the home study process, write the home study assessment, and provide resources and support to families throughout the process.
Be a valuable member of the Licensing Team and work collaboratively with South Dakota DSS/CPS.
