Job summary

Lutheran Social Services of South Dakota is hiring for a Family Development Specialist in a remote/community-based role within SD. The position involves assisting families seeking foster care or adoption, completing intake and home studies, and coordinating with licensing teams to ensure timely approvals.

The role requires licensure eligibility in social work, a related bachelor's degree, and 1–2 years of experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field plus one to two years related experience is required.
• Licensure as a Social Worker or Social Work Associate through the SD Board is preferred.
• Must be at least 21 years of age and pass background checks.

Responsibilities

• Assist families in navigating the process to become a foster or adoptive resource.
• Complete home study assessments for prospective foster and kinship families pursuing licensing and adoption.
• Partner with families to complete the home study process and provide resources and support throughout.
• Work collaboratively with South Dakota DSS/CPS as part of the Licensing Team.
