Job summary

Lutheran Social Services of South Dakota is seeking a Family Development Specialist to assist families pursuing foster care and adoption licensing. You will complete home studies and partner with families, providing resources and support throughout the process.

Role requires licensure as a Social Worker or Social Work Associate, with 21+ years of age and driving eligibility. Travel is required; compensation includes benefits and sign-on details.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field; 1–2 years related experience required.
• Licensure as Social Worker or Social Work Associate preferred; licensure via SD Board of Social Work Examiners.
• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Must pass agency background checks and have active auto-insurance/driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Assist families in navigating the process to become a foster or adoptive resource.
• Complete home study assessments for prospective foster and kinship families pursuing licensing and adoption.
• Partner with families to complete the home study process and provide resources and support.
• Collaborate with South Dakota DSS/CPS as part of Licensing Team.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field
