Job summary

Lutheran Social Services of South Dakota is hiring for a Family Development Specialist to support foster and adoptive families in SD communities. The role involves guiding families through home studies, licensing processes, and providing ongoing resources and support.

The position requires licensure eligibility as a Social Worker, a bachelor’s degree, and a clean background. Part-time hours with travel and mileage reimbursement are provided within 20 miles of listed SD locations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field required.
• Licensed Social Worker or Licensed Social Work Associate through the SD Board preferred.
• Must be at least 21 years of age and pass agency background checks.
• Requires active auto-insurance and a valid driver’s license or ability to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Assist families in navigating the process to become a foster or adoptive resource.
• Complete home study assessments for prospective foster and kinship families pursuing licensing and adoption approval.
• Partner with families to complete home study, write the assessment, and provide resources and support.
• Collaborate with South Dakota DSS/CPS as part of Licensing Team.
