Job summary

Lutheran Social Services of South Dakota is hiring a Family Development Specialist to help families pursue foster care and adoption opportunities. The role involves guiding families through home studies, licensing processes, and ongoing support in collaboration with the SD DSS/CPS.

We offer a comprehensive benefits package, mileage reimbursement for travel, and a $600 sign-on bonus for external candidates. Full-time schedule with occasional evenings/weekends and travel across SD communities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in social work or related field with 1–2 years of related experience.
• Licensed Social Worker (LSW) or Licensed Social Work Associate (LSWA) required.
• Must be at least 21 years old and pass background checks.

Responsibilities

• Assist families in navigating the process to become foster or adoptive resources.
• Complete home study assessments for prospective foster and kinship families.
• Partner with families to complete home study and provide ongoing support.
• Collaborate with Licensing Team and SD DSS/CPS.
