Job summary

Lutheran Social Services of South Dakota is seeking a part-time Family Development Specialist to support foster and adoptive families. The role includes navigating licensing processes, completing home studies, and partnering with families to ensure successful licensing and adoption outcomes.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field, SD social work licensure (preferred), and a valid driver’s license with active auto-insurance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field is required.
• Licensed Social Worker or Licensed Social Work Associate through SD Board preferred.
• Must be at least 21 years of age and pass agency background checks.
• Requires active auto-insurance and valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Assist families in navigating the process to become a foster or adoptive resource.
• Complete home study assessments for prospective foster and kinship families.
• Partner with families to complete the home study process and provide resources and support.
• Collaborate with the Licensing Team and South Dakota DSS/CPS.
