Qualifications

• Minimum education: High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of facility coding experience across DRG and OP services.
• Substitutable education/experience: 10 years in LMC coding dept.
• Two active certifications from AAPC or AHIMA; one must be RHIA/RHIT/CCS/CCS-P/CPC/CPC-H/COC/CIC.
• Experience with ED, OPS, IP areas and anatomy/physiology/medical terminology; Microsoft Office; EHR software.

Responsibilities

• Assign ICD and CPT codes for inpatient and outpatient reimbursement and statistics.
• Abstract information into computers for reimbursement and statistics.
• Stay current with healthcare coding and compliance trends.
• Mentor peers and assist management with coding audits.
• Collaborate with physicians and coding staff to ensure accurate code assignment.
