Job summary

Square One Politics is a fully remote nonprofit focused on supporting Democratic candidates across the United States. The Executive Director will lead fundraising, donor relations, and organizational growth while building strong donor and stakeholder partnerships.

The role requires steering growth through strategic campaigns and managing a small team, with occasional travel for fundraising. The ED will report to the President, supervise four full-time staff, and guide the organization toward its

Qualifications

• 10-15+ years experience preferred in political, advocacy, and/or related non-profit work.
• The ideal candidate brings substantial experience fundraising and relationships with mid-to-major national donors.
• Strong commitment to uplifting diverse Democratic candidates, with a willingness to think outside-the-box.
• Deep understanding of the current political ecosystem.
• Significant experience in organizational management with the ability to coach staff and manage a budget.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Pursue an ambitious fundraising program with our leadership to introduce our work to a broad base of national donors.
• Retain and engage with existing supporters, including donor programming.
• Engage in donor prospecting, cultivation, and stewardship.
• Work with fundraising staff to execute in-person fundraising events and meetings.
• Oversee a successful small-dollar online fundraising program.
• Staff Management and Leadership: supervise political, operations, and fundraising staff.
• Lead and develop a high-performance team with regular 1:1 meetings.
• Budget and multi-entity reporting with the COO and leadership.
• Collaborate with the President to execute a 2-cycle growth strategy for 2028 and 2030.
• Program Oversight: manage candidate support to post-election initiatives and materials.
• Work with candidates and campaigns during election season.
• Expand reach by building relationships with press, conferences, partners, and more.
