Job summary

Highland Electric Fleets is seeking a Project Development Associate I to deliver fully developed projects for customer contracts. You will work with Senior Associates and the commercial team to document needs, ensuring underwriting requirements are met while coordinating with legal, finance, and external engineers.

This role offers remote work from California with about 20% travel. Over time, you will take on more autonomous responsibilities, helping finalize site designs and preparing handoffs

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or 4+ years of directly related professional experience.
• Experience with electric utilities, interconnection, or permitting processes.
• Experience coordinating engineering, construction, and regulatory activities.

Responsibilities

• Support senior associates and managers in establishing fleet electrification scopes of work, timelines, budgets, and equipment selection.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to develop designs for EV charging depot projects, including solar and storage components.
• Estimate engineering, construction, and interconnection costs for project budgets.
• Coordinate site diligence, including real estate, zoning, and permitting restrictions.
• Define permitting requirements and prepare related engineering deliverables.
• Identify utility requirements, file service requests, and communicate with utility representatives.
• Manage projects through design and engineering phases, tracking schedules and subcontractor deliverables.
• Support handoff to project implementation after contract execution.
• Contribute to work scoping methodology and documentation improvements.
