Job summary

Highland Electric Fleets is seeking a Project Development Associate I to advance electrification projects from scoping to handoff. You will partner with Senior Associates, Legal, Finance and Market Development to document customer needs and Highland commitments, helping to push deals toward contract execution.

Based remotely in California with ~20% travel, you will assist in site designs, permitting, interconnection, and budgets, growing into more autonomous responsibilities under the Manager,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or 4+ years of directly related professional experience.
• Experience working with electric utilities interconnection, new service requests, or related processes.
• Project management experience in engineering and/or construction environments.

Responsibilities

• Support Senior Associates and Managers in establishing electrification scopes of work, timelines, budgets, and equipment selection.
• Work with engineering teams to develop designs for EV charging depot projects, including solar and battery storage components.
• Contribute to estimating engineering, construction, and interconnection costs for budgets.
• Coordinate the project site diligence process, including real estate, zoning, permitting, and other development restrictions.
• Assist in defining project permitting requirements and related engineering deliverables.
• Assist in identifying utility requirements and communicating with utility representatives to define timelines and budgets.
• Help manage projects through design and engineering phases, tracking schedules, budgets, and subcontractor deliverables.
• Support handoff to project implementation team upon contract execution.
• Contribute to work scoping methodology and documentation improvement initiatives.
