Job summary

Highland Electric Fleets is seeking a Project Development Associate I to advance fully developed projects in preparation for customer contract execution. This remote California-based role supports senior staff, coordinates with Legal, Finance, and Market Development, and manages external engineers to finalize site designs for handoffs to Customer Success and Project Execution teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or 4+ years of directly related professional experience.
• Experience with electric utilities, interconnection, or new service requests (preferred).
• Experience in electrical engineering, construction, or infrastructure project development (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Support Senior Associates and Managers in establishing fleet electrification scopes of work for projects in development.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to develop designs for EV charging depot projects, including solar and storage.
• Contribute to estimating engineering, construction, and interconnection costs for budgets.
• Coordinate the project site diligence process, including real estate, zoning, permitting, and other restrictions.
• Help define permitting requirements and prepare related engineering deliverables.
• Assist in identifying utility requirements and communicating with utility representatives to define timelines and budgets.
• Assist in managing projects through the design and engineering phases, including tracking schedules, budgets, and subcontractor deliverables.
• Support the handoff to the project implementation team upon customer contract execution.
• Contribute to work scoping methodology and documentation improvement initiatives.
