Job summary

UCLA Health is seeking an Epic Simple Visit Coding Analyst 2 to support outpatient coding, billing, and regulatory compliance. You will review charges, apply ICD-10-CM and CPT/HCPCS codes, and ensure documentation supports accurate reimbursement.

You will collaborate with physicians and clinical departments, maintain coding quality, and stay current with coding rules and payer policies. Remote work is available with a Monday–Friday schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 1+ years of hospital coding, revenue cycle operations, coding analytics, charge capture, or related healthcare revenue cycle function.
• CCS certification within six months of hire.
• Knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT/HCPCS coding systems.
• Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, disease processes, and medical terminology.
• Knowledge of outpatient hospital coding guidelines and reimbursement principles.
• Knowledge of LCDs, NCDs, and payer policies.
• Ability to review and abstract information from medical records and identify documentation deficiencies and coding discrepancies.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills; maintain coding quality and productivity.

Responsibilities

• Review Epic Simple Visit Coding outpatient encounters and assign ICD-10-CM, CPT/HCPCS codes per guidelines and payer requirements.
• Ensure coded data reflects services rendered and supports compliant billing.
• Apply medical necessity requirements and payer policies during code assignment.
• Identify documentation deficiencies, participate in coding audits, and assist with routine coding edits.
• Communicate with physicians, clinical staff, and revenue cycle teams to resolve coding questions and support accuracy.
• Maintain current knowledge of coding regulations and payer policies and participate in continuing education and Epic workflow testing.
