Job summary

OCHIN is hiring a Coding Specialist to deliver accurate and compliant healthcare coding services for member clinics and acute care hospitals. You will extract clinical data, assign codes, and support revenue optimization through precise coding practices.

This role requires 5+ years in hospital coding with Epic, inpatient/outpatient experience, and relevant CPC/CCS/CDC credentials. A remote, home-office setup is supported with ongoing professional development and standard benefits.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of hospital coding experience in Epic required.
• 5 years hospital coding for inpatient, emergency, swing bed, and surgical coding required.
• Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, MVA, Workers' Comp and private insurance billing/reimbursement preferred.
• Medical coding certifications CPC, CCS and/or CDC required.
• CIC or AHIMA inpatient certification highly desired.

Responsibilities

• Deliver accurate coding services for member clinics and hospital organizations in compliance with coding guidelines and payer requirements.
• Abstract and interpret clinical data from records to support code assignment.
• Review patient encounters to assign diagnosis and procedure codes ensuring accuracy and completeness.
• Support reimbursement optimization through accurate code assignments for claims.
• Escalate complex issues to supervisors and participate in process improvements.
