Job summary

EnSafe is seeking an Environmental Associate Project Engineer to support remediations across Michigan and beyond. This remote role can be based in Ann Arbor, Lansing, Kalamazoo, Grand Rapids, Battle Creek, or other MI cities.

You will design and manage remediation systems, work with diverse teams, and advance your technical expertise in a growing employee-owned firm. The role offers opportunities to lead field work, oversee subcontractors, conduct data analysis, and develop reports for CERCLA,

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited engineering degree required.
• 3–10 years of experience in environmental engineering.
• E.I.T. or P.E. license preferred.
• 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification required.
• Certification/licenses relevant to Michigan (EGLE) preferred or obtainable within 6 months.
• Proficiency with vapor mitigation and groundwater/soil remediation technologies.
• Experience drafting remedial system designs, PFDs, P&IDs, equipment layouts, and material balances.
• Valid driver’s license; ability to travel up to 35%.

Responsibilities

• Manage operation and maintenance of remedial systems; collect data and troubleshoot.
• Oversee subcontractors and manage field activities.
• Design/remediate soil, groundwater, and vapor-contaminated sites under CERCLA, RCRA, and state programs.
• Prepare feasibility studies, remedial action plans, and cost estimates.
• Lead pilot studies and field tests for contaminants; perform data analysis and modeling.
• Draft and review technical reports; conduct environmental inspections; communicate with clients and regulators.
