Job summary

EnSafe is accepting applications for a Full-time or Part-Time Environmental Project Engineer to support projects in Michigan and beyond. This role is remote and can be based in Ann Arbor, Lansing, Kalamazoo, Grand Rapids, Battle Creek, Clare, or other Michigan cities.

The candidate will design remedial systems, manage O&M, oversee subcontractors, and prepare feasibility studies and cost estimates for soil, groundwater, and vapor contamination.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited B.S. in Civil, Chemical, Mechanical, or Environmental Engineering.
• 3–10 years of experience in environmental projects.
• 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification.
• EGLE Waste Treatment Plant Operator A-2d, B-3b certification or ability to obtain in 6 months.
• Proficiency with remediation technologies and O&M troubleshooting.
• Experience drafting remedial system designs and PFDs/P&IDs.

Responsibilities

• Manage O&M of remedial systems and data collection; troubleshoot operational issues.
• Oversee subcontractors and coordinate field activities.
• Assist in designing soil, groundwater, and vapor remedial systems.
• Prepare feasibility studies, remedial action plans, and cost estimates.
• Lead pilot studies and field testing for contaminants.
• Provide data compilation, statistical evaluation, and modeling.
• Review data to determine remedial approaches and strategies.
• Write and review technical reports and regulatory submissions.
• Conduct environmental inspections at client facilities.
• Communicate with clients, regulators, vendors, and stakeholders.
• Support SPCC Plans, SWPPPs, permits, and related compliance reporting.
