Job summary

GAI Consultants is seeking a Compliance Environmental Specialist (Assistant Environmental Specialist 2) to perform field compliance monitoring from our Pittsburgh, Cranberry, or Southpointe Office. This remote role requires travel regionally to projects in the Upper Midwestern and Mid-Atlantic Regions, including Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Michigan, and Indiana.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years in environmental field monitoring.
• Understanding of E&S control BMP concepts and maintenance requirements.
• Strong written and verbal communication and technical writing ability.
• Ability to use GPS devices to collect project location data.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel; experience with Access/SQL or similar is a plus.
• Possess a valid driver’s license and be willing to travel.
• Regional travel 2–5 hours round trip; 4–5 days/week, year-round.

Responsibilities

• Perform field monitoring of erosion and sediment controls on construction projects independently.
• Review specifications, permits, and E&S/ stormwater plans for sites and linear projects.
• Prepare and review periodic monitoring reports based on field observations.
• Assist with environmental reports, permit applications, and closeout documents.
• Adhere to Health and Safety requirements and QA/QC standards.
