Job summary

GAI Consultants is seeking an Environmental Specialist to lead field compliance monitoring from our Richmond, VA office, with remote work and regional travel. The role focuses on erosion and sediment control, reviewing permits and plans, and preparing monitoring reports while collaborating with project teams in the Mid-Atlantic region.

Qualifications

• Minimum of an Associate degree with engineering/environmental/science focus.
• Four years of demonstrated environmental field monitoring experience.
• Understanding of E&S BMP concepts, designs and maintenance.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and technical writing ability.
• Experience using GPS/location devices to collect data tied to project locations.
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel and related MS Office programs; ability to use databases and reports.

Responsibilities

• Perform field monitoring of erosion and sediment controls on construction projects.
• Review permits, plans, and ensure E&S/stormwater compliance.
• Prepare and review periodic monitoring reports and support environmental reports.
• Assist with permit applications, wetland/stream delineation, and related plans.
• Adhere to health, safety, QA/QC, and company/clients procedures.
• Lead field activities with minimal supervision; travel 4-5 days/week.
