Auto-Owners Insurance is seeking a motivated claims trainee to join our team. This role handles entry-level insurance claims under close supervision through the life-cycle of a claim including investigation, evaluation, and claim resolution.

The position includes in-person training followed by potential work-from-home flexibility as defined by leadership, with responsibilities to serve agents, insureds, and others to ensure timely claims resolution.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or direct equivalent experience with property/casualty claims handling.
• Ability to organize data, multi-task and make decisions independently.
• Above average communication skills (written and verbal).
• Ability to write reports and compose correspondence.
• Ability to resolve complex issues.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and data security.
• Ability to effectively deal with a diverse group individuals.
• Ability to perform mathematical problems including geometry and finance documents.
• Ability to drive an automobile, valid driver's license required.
• Continually develop product knowledge through approved educational programs.

Responsibilities

• Investigate, evaluate, and settle entry-level insurance claims.
• Study policies, endorsements, and forms to develop foundational knowledge.
• Learn and comply with company claim handling procedures.
• Develop entry-level claim negotiation and settlement skills.
• Meet and communicate with claimants, legal counsel, and third parties.
• Develop specialized skills including estimating and use of designated computer-based programs.
