Job summary

Vanguard College Prep is seeking a full-time English educator to teach small groups, promote college readiness, and track student growth. The role emphasizes individualized instruction and collaboration with a dynamic team in Madison, WI.

Ideal candidates hold a humanities degree (MA preferred), have 1+ years of English teaching or writing center experience, and demonstrate strong verbal skills along with proficiency in MS Office and G-Suites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in humanities (English, Creative Writing, Journalism, Publishing, etc.) from US schools, Master’s or higher preferred.
• Teaching experience in English and/or college-level Writing Center (1+ years).
• Demonstrated academic excellence (e.g., 3.5+ GPA).
• Strong verbal skills and mastery of the English language.
• Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and G-Suites.
• Access to reliable internet and a quiet workspace.

Responsibilities

• Teach small groups of students in English core skills to promote long-term understanding and top scores on ACT & SAT.
• Track student progress through Vanguard’s multi-phase curriculum and provide individualized growth opportunities.
• Maintain and update student lesson schedules, hold students accountable for assignments, and model professionalism and organization.
• Spearhead development and execution of evolving lesson plans and curriculum.
• Mentor middle and high school students, guiding them through the college application process.
