Job summary

Vanguard College Prep is seeking a full-time English educator to inspire students and build core college-readiness skills. You will teach small groups, track progress, and develop engaging lesson plans within a multi-phase curriculum.

The ideal candidate holds a humanities degree (Masters preferred), has 1+ year teaching English, strong writing and verbal skills, and proficiency with MS Office and Google Workspace. Local Indiana schedule applies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a humanities field from US Schools (English, Creative Writing, Journalism, Publishing, etc.)
• Master’s degree preferred
• 1+ years teaching English or college-level Writing Center experience
• Demonstrated academic excellence (3.5+ GPA)
• Strong verbal skills and mastery of English
• Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and G-Suites
• Reliable internet connection and quiet workspace
• Commitment to working hours: Mon, Fri closed; Tue-Thu 1:30pm–9:30pm CST; Sat-Sun 9:30am–5:30pm CST

Responsibilities

• Teach and inspire small groups of students in English core skills to promote long-term understanding and high scores
• Track students’ progress through Vanguard’s multi-phase curriculum
• Maintain and update lesson schedules, hold students accountable for assignments
• Model professionalism with strong organization and timely communication
• Innovate by developing evolving lesson plans and curriculum
• Mentor middle and high school students through the college-application process
