Job summary

ZipRecruiter, Inc. is seeking an Engineering Manager for the Ranking team in the Marketplace org. You will lead a senior group of data scientists and ML engineers to drive product value, ownership, and tech-health.

You’ll collaborate with product and decision science to shape the roadmap and establish success criteria for marketplace tests. You will design and deploy ML pipelines, monitor model performance, and ensure reproducible experiments across deployments while supporting a strong culture

Qualifications

• 6+ years in fast-paced software development at scale.
• 2+ years as a software engineering leader.
• ML manager or Senior/Staff Data Scientist transitioning to management.
• Ability to assess ML value and speak ML language.
• Strong communication with leadership, product, and data science.
• Deep experience with ML algorithms and best practices.
• Strong CS fundamentals and coding skills.
• ML frameworks: TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn.
• Python (not R) and Java/Scala.
• Experience with embeddings/vector tech to solve business problems.
• Ability to build reproducible ML pipelines with experiment tracking, data/model versioning.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support a senior team of data scientists and MLEs.
• Partner with product management and Decision Science to shape roadmap.
• Evaluate technical work and provide a strong ML voice in discussions.
• Design, build, and deploy ML pipelines for modeling behavior.
• Monitor model performance for speed and accuracy.
