Job summary

ZipRecruiter, a leading online employment marketplace, seeks an Engineering Manager to lead the Ranking team within Marketplace. You will guide Data Scientists and ML Engineers, drive product roadmaps, and ensure strong technical execution across ML pipelines and experimentation.

You will partner with product and decision science to set metrics, balance tests, and deliver impactful marketplace optimization for job seekers and employers. Strong leadership and ML fluency are essential.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in a fast-paced software development environment at scale
• 2+ years as a software engineering leader
• Experience as ML manager or Senior/Staff Data Scientist transitioning to management
• Ability to assess ML value and speak ML language with engineers
• Strong communication with leadership, product, and data science teams
• Deep experience with ML algorithms, techniques, and best practices
• Strong CS fundamentals and coding skills
• Applied experience with embeddings/vectors to solve business problems
• Experience building reproducible ML pipelines with experiment tracking and versioning
• Experience working on B2C or B2B product

Responsibilities

• Lead a senior team of Data Scientists and MLEs, driving career development and growth
• Collaborate with Product Management and Decision Science to shape roadmaps and success metrics
• Provide a strong technical voice in cross-functional discussions
• Design, build, and deploy ML pipelines modeling jobseeker behavior and marketplace dynamics
• Monitor model performance for speed and accuracy
