Job summary

Canonical is hiring an Engineering Manager for Sustaining Engineering to lead a distributed team working on open source software across the Linux and cloud stack. You will mentor engineers, drive delivery, and uphold engineering standards while collaborating with global teams and stakeholders.

This role emphasizes people growth, technical leadership, and a strong Open Source mindset. Location is globally remote; travel up to 10% may be required for internal and external events.

Qualifications

• Professional software delivery experience using C, C++, Go, Python, or similar.
• Leadership experience organizing and prioritising complex problem resolution.
• Experience with version control systems such as Git.
• Experience with debugging tools such as GDB, Crash, or equivalents.
• Demonstrated commitment to testing methodologies and maintainable code quality.
• Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Experience with Linux, preferably Ubuntu, and Open Source practices.
• People management experience in a support organisation is a plus.

• Manage and lead a distributed team of engineers.
