Job summary

Supabase is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the engineering effort on Supabase Spark, a bold initiative to build a scalable, agentic database platform. You will participate in design discussions, set engineering quality bars, and mentor engineers across a remote-first, globally distributed team.

You will own the team's roadmap, mentor engineers, run 1:1s, manage performance, and drive hiring in collaboration with Talent Acquisition. Strong backend and database credibility is valued.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of engineering background with credibility in complex systems.
• 3+ years managing remote engineering teams.
• Experience leading at a cloud, SaaS, or developer tools company.
• Experience with developer tools or databases, incl. SQLite and Postgres ecosystems.
• Strong backend and database credibility (APIs, auth, and RLS).
• Track record of performance management and difficult conversations.
• Comfort with ambiguity and ability to build structure.”

Responsibilities

• Build a healthy, high-trust team culture in a remote-first environment.
• Run 1:1s, performance management, and onboarding for direct reports.
• Own the hiring plan and act as Hiring Manager; partner with Talent Acquisition.
• Own the team's roadmap and project management (Linear).
• Manage workflow intake and Slack triage and prioritize requests.
• Own weekly updates and keep stakeholders aligned.
• Organize effort against support tickets and maintain team SLOs.
• Surface risks and tradeoffs early to leadership.
• Train as Incident Commander and lead post-incident reviews.
