Job summary

Supabase is seeking a platform engineer to join the Compute team. You will build and operate the core platform powering multi-region compute, scaling, and project provisioning.

You’ll design robust, automated systems that enable reliable provisioning at scale and deliver a seamless experience to the millions of databases we manage. You’ll own the full lifecycle of compute orchestration—from project creation to autoscaling and resource optimization—while improving automation and observability.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of cloud infrastructure experience (AWS required).
• 3+ years building custom Kubernetes controllers and large clusters.
• Strong Go and TypeScript software engineering skills.
• Experience with multi-region infrastructure design and networking.
• Familiarity with Postgres and cloud compute services.
• Proficient with Infrastructure as Code tools (Pulumi preferred, Terraform/CDK acceptable).
• Experience with QEMU, KVM, NAS is a plus.
• Experience with on-call rotations for large production systems.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain the Supabase Cloud offering.
• Design and implement systems to provision, scale, and manage multi-region compute workloads powering Supabase projects.
• Own the full lifecycle of compute orchestration: project creation, warm pools, autoscaling, resizing, and resource optimization.
• Improve automation and observability across the compute stack for high availability and performance.
• Improve system architecture to reduce costs while balancing security, reliability, and performance.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to leverage compute as a core platform offering.
• Participate in on-call rotations, incident response, and post-incident reviews.
• Resolve escalated issues and systemic platform problems.
