Job summary

Pliant, a European fintech with a global footprint, is hiring an Engineering Manager for Authentication & Authorization. You will lead a small, growing team with both backend and frontend engineers, mentoring them while hands-on roughly half the time to start.

You will shape architecture, drive security, and ensure scalable, reliable systems for a payments platform. You will collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to align roadmaps, deliver features, and uphold best

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software development experience with Java/Kotlin and Spring Boot, including leadership experience.
• Strong background in distributed, testable backend systems.
• Prior experience on authentication and authorization topics.
• Deep understanding of REST APIs and relational databases (PostgreSQL).

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a high-performing engineering team, with up to 50% hands-on work initially.
• Mentor engineers, promote best practices, and enable continuous delivery.
• Collaborate with product, backend/frontend engineers, and non-technical teams.
• Drive technical direction, release planning, and operational excellence.
• Manage quarterly OKRs with the product manager and drive continuous improvement.
• Champion Pliant values and contribute to a positive team culture.
