Job summary

Pliant is seeking an experienced backend engineer to join the Card & Transaction Platform team. You will own critical backend flows, build features in Java/Spring Boot microservices, and ensure high availability and reliability for a growing client base.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience building and operating modern distributed backend services on a Java/Spring Boot stack with AWS cloud services, Kafka, and PostgreSQL.
• Experience delivering high-availability systems where reliability matters and scaling under growing load.
• Fluency with a modern observability stack and solid SLO/SLA thinking.
• Proactive ownership mindset and end-to-end feature ownership.

Responsibilities

• Define, measure, and improve SLOs/SLAs and error budgets for critical services.
• Evolve and scale the platform to accommodate growing customer base and rising request volumes.
• Spot weak points, risky patterns, and capacity limits early and address them before they affect customers.
• Share in a fair, on-call rotation and lead incident response from mitigation to blameless postmortem.
• Own observability across dashboards, alerting, tracing, and logging (Datadog) and drive latency improvements.
• Design, build, and ship new product features end-to-end across Java/Spring Boot microservices.
