Job summary

Turner & Townsend is seeking a Commissioning Engineer to lead commissioning tasks for HVAC, Electrical and Plumbing systems on renovation and new construction projects across the Midwest. The role supports highly technical and complex projects with strong client-facing elements.

The position requires proximity to a major metropolitan airport, with approximately 75% travel. When not testing in the field, this is a work-from-home position or, if desired, located in the nearest office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or building science plus two years of relevant experience.
• FE certification preferred; PE on track; LEED AP and commissioning cert preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to present technical information clearly.
• Strong organizational skills; ability to manage multiple tasks and project files.
• Experience with MS Word, Excel and BAS trend data analysis; commissioning software familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Verify systems are designed, installed, and operated per design criteria.
• Review MEP design docs, submittals, and sequences of operation for conformance.
• Plan, chair, and document commissioning meetings.
• Write system checklists and perform functional tests for all system points.
• Conduct site walks and generate observation reports.
• Direct onsite testing and monitor complex systems.
• Track issues with contractors, engineers, and owners.
• Create professional reports and deliverables with proper formatting.
• Lead commissioning team on less complex projects and assist on complex ones.
