Job summary

Akumin is seeking an Employee Relations Specialist to join our team. This full-time, remote role is located within the United States.

You will serve as the first point of contact for employees and managers on workplace concerns, interpret policies, conduct intake, and manage ER cases in collaboration with the Senior Manager, ER. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
• 1–3 years of experience in Human Resources with a focus on Employee Relations.
• Excellent active listening, verbal, and written communication skills. Strong objective, analytical, and conflict-resolution abilities.
• Basic understanding of employment laws (e.g., FMLA, ADA, FLSA) and standard HR compliance protocols.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the first point of contact for employees and managers reporting workplace concerns or policy questions. Document initial statements, gather preliminary facts, and present findings to the Sr. Manager, ER. Escalate high-risk or complex cases to senior leadership immediately.
• Independently manage and investigate routine employee relations cases, including attendance issues, dress code violations, conduct concerns, and basic performance conflicts, while consulting with the Senior Manager, Employee Relations on more complex matters. Partner with managers to develop and deliver performance improvement plans (PIPs) and corrective actions.
• Maintain accurate, confidential, and up‑to‑date records of all ER inquiries and investigations in the case management system. Ensure all practices comply with internal policies and applicable federal, state, and local employment laws.
• Advise employees and frontline managers on company policies, procedures, and basic HR best practices.
• Assist with the development, communication, and delivery of HR policies, employee relations training, and compliance initiatives. Support employee and manager education on workplace expectations and company policies.
