Job summary

Appello is seeking an Emergency Helpline Operator to support vulnerable service users with calm, empathetic calls. The role is remote within the UK, with occasional in-office events in Birmingham and a 35-hour week.

Training spans 6 weeks, including DBS checks and referencing. A solid general education and MS Office skills are required, with CRM experience a plus. Salary is £23,314.20 per annum, with shifts across early and late patterns.

Qualifications

• Genuine desire to help the community with empathy and resilience.
• Minimum 1 year in a customer facing environment (call centre, customer service, care, or hospitality).
• Experience in local authorities, emergency services, or control centres is a bonus.
• Solid general education; NVQ 2/3 in Customer Service or Business Admin preferred.

Responsibilities

• Be the first point of contact for emergency alarm calls from service users.
• Support residents in sheltered housing or living independently.
• Deliver top-tier customer service with empathy, professionalism, and a friendly demeanor.
