Job summary

ITW is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer in the Madison, WI area to design, develop, test and support embedded software for existing and new products. You will bring up software on new hardware, implement low-level drivers and collaborate with hardware, manufacturing and field teams.

The role requires a solid background in embedded C/C++, RTOS (FreeRTOS/MQX) and hands-on debugging, with travel to the MN facility as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Software, Electrical, Computer Engineering, or related discipline) required.
• Minimum of 4 years of embedded software development experience.
• Proficiency in C/C++ and real-time operating environments (FreeRTOS, MQX).
• Experience with hardware/software integration and debugging on embedded systems.
• Familiarity with microcontroller bring-up, interfaces and documentation reading.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test and support embedded software for existing and new products.
• Bring up embedded software on new hardware platforms and verify MCU, memory and interfaces.
• Develop and debug drivers for UART, SPI, I2C, USB, Ethernet and other peripherals.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams and communicate status, risks and issues.
• Create and maintain software documentation and test plans.
• Support manufacturing, field teams and customers with software issues.
