Job summary

ITW is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to design, develop, test, and support embedded software for new and existing products, including hardware bring-up and MCU-based systems.

The role blends hands-on engineering with cross-functional collaboration, focusing on software architecture, reliability validation, and debugging across hardware and firmware. Travel to our Fairmont, MN facility is required quarterly.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Software, Electrical, Computer) required.
• Minimum of 4 years embedded software development experience.
• Proficiency in C/C++, Git/Github, and RTOS environments (FreeRTOS, MQX).
• Strong hardware/software integration and system-level design capability.
• Ability to read schematics and datasheets and work across design phases.
• Willingness to travel quarterly to Fairmont, MN.

Responsibilities

• Develop, code, test, and debug embedded software for products and customers.
• Design and modify software applications based on specifications with minimal guidance.
• Create robust embedded solutions and bring up new hardware platforms.
• Develop and debug low-level drivers and BSPs for interfaces (UART, SPI, I2C, USB, Ethernet).
• Coordinate with cross‑functional teams and communicate software status and risks.
• Document designs, changes, and analyses thoroughly.
• Develop test plans for hardware/software integration and validate reliability.
