Job summary

ITW is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to design, develop, test, and support embedded software for new and existing products. You will bring up new hardware, integrate microcontroller firmware, and ensure reliable operation across interfaces such as UART, SPI, I2C, USB and Ethernet.

The role blends hands-on engineering with cross-functional collaboration, requiring strong problem-solving and documentation. Occasional travel to the Fairmont, MN facility is expected to support project needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering required.
• Minimum 4 years in embedded software development or related roles.
• Proficiency in C/C++, Git, and RTOS environments (FreeRTOS, MQX).
• Strong hardware/software integration and system-level design knowledge.
• Ability to work independently across design, coding, testing, debugging, and documentation phases.

Responsibilities

• Develop, code, test, and debug new embedded software or enhancements for products.
• Design and modify moderately complex software from specifications with limited guidance.
• Bring up embedded software on new hardware platforms and verify peripherals.
• Develop and debug low-level drivers and board support for interfaces like UART, SPI, I2C, USB, Ethernet.
