Job summary

Minnesota Oncology is seeking a detail-oriented auditor/educator to perform comprehensive EMR chart audits for surgeons, ensuring documentation supports charges and billing. You will train providers, prepare improvement reports, and collaborate with HIM, CDI, and billing teams to resolve issues.

Remote option may be available for well-qualified candidates located in Minnesota or Wisconsin; the role requires strong knowledge of ICD/CPT/HCPCS and Medicare guidelines, with CPC certification

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED; Associate's or Bachelor's in Health Information Management or related healthcare field preferred.
• 7+ years of billing, coding, and medical records experience.
• 1+ years of auditor/educator experience required.
• Surgical experience strongly preferred.
• CPC certification is highly desired.
• Broad knowledge of managed care, HMO policies, and Medicare benefits.
• Strong knowledge of ICD, CPT and HCPCS codes.

Responsibilities

• Performs EMR chart audits for surgeons to ensure documentation matches charges and billing.
• Trains and advises providers on documentation for optimal reimbursement.
• Prepares reports detailing discrepancies and opportunities for improvement.
• Identifies coding and documentation trends that may be non-compliant.
• Recommends procedural improvements and training; provides audit reports to supervisor.
